Gentiana pannonica

A species of gentian with purple-magenta flowers that only occurs in the eastern alps. Since it has been intensely collected as a medicinal plant, it is endangered and rare in many parts.

Gorges du Verdon

One of the most impressive canyons in Europe that is formed by the river Verdon between Castellane and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie in southern France. It is an Eldorado for climbers and hikers. One of the most beautiful hikes is the Sentier Martel, which descends at Chalet de la Maline and reappears from the canyon after 14 km at Pointe Sublime.

Greater Flamingo

Greater flamingos (Phoenicopterus roseus) are tall water birds that live in warm climates in Africa, Asia and Europe. They feed on tiny water organisms that they filtrate out of the water with their bill. Their beautiful pink color is due to pigments in the small animals they feed on.
