Pollen

The male life-form (microgametophyte) of seed plants that contains a reproductive cell that forms two sperm cells. Pollen are durable and produced in huge quantities by plants. Therefore, pollen is even found in fossil record and can thus reveal the vegetation of the past (palynology). Many people become painfully aware of pollen because of allergies (hay fever).
