A country in South America lying on the Equator that is bordered by the Pacific Ocean in the west, Colombia in the north, and Peru in the east and south. In addition, the famous Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean belong to Ecuador. The highest peak in the Ecuadorian Andes is Mount Chimborazo (6268 m), which is also the Earth's surface most distant point from its center.
